2THE NEWS[WEATHER CRISIS]
Change of direction and distance
The race will therefore be run over 2725m instead of the
2950m initially planned, but above all the direction will
change. We are moving from right to left. This is an important
change, even though the entries were validated two days ago,
but it is explained by the analysis of all the circumstances, as
Benoît Fabrega, from the LeTROT Technical Department,
explains: "Above all, we wanted to stay in the Western
Federation. As Saint-Brieuc does not have three starting levels,
there was the solution of Châteaubriant to stay right-handed,
but the racecourse hosts a Premium meeting the next day and
in terms of logistics, box management and water management,
we could not guarantee a smooth running of operations. We
therefore chose Pornichet.
Although not ideal, this alternative allows the event to be
organised in the best (or least bad) conditions possible in a
situation that can very quickly go from "critical" to "crisis".
What will happen in the next few days?
Unfortunately it is not going to rain. We are prioritising all our actions to work on the
track for the races. In any case, we are applying the right
methods with a moderate use of water and especially not
during the day. On the Vincennes side, we are on vigilance but
should also go on alert soon. We remain mobilised."
The same applies to Grosbois, as Christophe Walazyc, the
manager, explained:"Since the decree of 21 July 2022, we
have reduced the surface area watered by 30%. In agreement
with the domain's administrators, we have decided to close
certain training tracks (e.g. the Marolles straight) and to limit
watering on the bridle paths surrounding the establishments.
The main track, the middle track and the Royale in the woods
remain watered, only in the morning. The two rivers that pass
through the domain, the Réveillon and the Morbras, are
completely dry and we only use the water from our ponds to
water the training tracks. There is a real need to think about
future developments concerning retention basins which would
also be used during heavy rainfall to avoid flooding."
Impacts on the stakes
When this blogger learns how to "copy and paste' correctly from "FRENCH TROT" i will be able to advise you on how the French Folk prize money in these circumstances. Regards, Denis.
